I'd like to apologise for a few spotty moments with the server today whilst I upgraded it. It should all be fine now, but as ever, let me know if you notice anything unusual.
I'd also like to say a big sorry to all of you using AOL and Yahoo as an ISP. A bug in some of the fake entry checking code was incorrectly discarding some entries as fakes. So if you had a really good time and you didn't make it onto the leaderboard I'm really sorry.
Thanks to everyone who mailed to let me know about this and help me track it down. I couldn't have found the problem without your reports and feedback.

There have been some emails recently regarding the Sudoku achievement award, the gold star next to your name, and what's required to gain one.
The award is given when the website thinks you have been playing particularly well. Without giving away all the details, points are awarded for every Sudoku puzzle you complete, get more points and you'll be awarded the achievement award. Points aren't awarded just for coming in first place though, it's also about improvement over time, and how others are playing too.
Also your points decrease! When the points are assigned at the end of everyday, the previous days points are decreased. That's why you can sometimes loose your achievement award if you stop playing for a while.

I've just applied a quick update to the site. The printing should have been corrected as have some of the problems with the grid. Also, after a little thinking I got rid of the no entry popup on the grid. So that won't be distracting you any more.
Please keep the suggestions coming in. I'll be taking a break next week, so don't expect a response to emails for a few days, although I've been particularly bad at responding to emails this week as I still have a back log of 100 or so to do. I'll try and get back to you if you've emailed soon.

Many thanks for all the comments about the new look. Please keep them coming in.
I'll endevor to fix all the reported problems this weekend. Especially all the issues about the look of the grid. I'm going to revert to the old method of drawing the grid tomorrow if all is well.
I've also fixed some problems with the printing of the front, solution, and random sudoku pages. If you notice any more please let me know.
